General Firefighter Requirements
- At least eighteen years of age at the time of filing the application.
- A resident of Kansas and within the residential requirements of your local fire department.
- In excellent physical condition.
- Possess a current, valid Kansas Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Able to obtain and maintain the Kansas Emergency Medical Technician Certificate (if department requires this).
Most departments, as a matter of policy, conducts a pre-employment and promotional background investigation on all applicants being considered for positions. Applicants
may be disqualified from consideration based on the results of their background investigation (as it relates to the job for which the applicant is being considered).
